"The Subtext of a Dream centres around fictional experiences of imagined contact or fantasy as experienced by a fictional character Madame Beauvais. Bombarded by a glut of erotica this series reads like a swim through erotic literature. The text fragments are written by multiple authors (from writers as diverse as Chris Krauss, E. L. James, Anais Nin, Judy Blume and Georges Bataille) and re-appropriated by the artist. The images of water surfaces represent the character's desire to fall in, to experience contact with seductive thresholds, yet remains, for now, teetering on the edge. The Subtext of a Dream is a self-published artist book."--http://www.sharonboothroyd.com, accessed August 17, 2018. -
