Richard Hughes was the porter to Messrs Swan Pearce & Co. of St Pauls Church Yard in the city of London. He died February 10th, 1837.
Written on vellum.
Accompanying material includes a paper wrapper with a red wax seal.
Manuscript on folded parchment with the last will and testament of Richard Hughes. A form probate, printed on parchment and filled out in a single hand, is interlocked at the bottom edge and attached to a folded piece of paper, embossed with the seal of the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury, 1828. The will bequeaths the sum of £15 to his eldest son, John, and the same amount to his second son, Robert, as well as equal portions of the remainder of his property to his second and third sons, Robert and Alfred. The document appoints Mr. Daniel Wilkinson and Mr. Edward Swan of No. 29 St Pauls Church Yard in the city of London as the executors. The document was signed in the presence of Jno. Wright and Francis Norris. -
