  • Notes

    Title devised by cataloger.
The address "No. 75 Oxford Terrace, Hyde Park. 27th July" is written at the head of the letter.
Autograph letter, signed, informing the recipient, addressed as "Sir," of "a very fine specimen of the trilobite with other fossil remains" that Linwood has obtained. Linwood notes that she had hoped to bring them with her to London and present them to the recipient, but they were "too large and heavy to send by a parcel without risk." She writes that she hopes to return to London in October and will endeavor to obtain another specimen. She also mentions an operetta in one act, which she hopes to finish and present to the recipient, and a tragedy, sent to Mr. Phelps by the letter recipient on Linwood's behalf, that she has yet to hear back about.
