Attribution for the plates is difficult to determine. The style is consistent and they may be the work of a single hand, but 11 are signed "P Stephens D., J. Forrester sculpt." while 10 are signed with the monogram SSR (?) and "Nicole." The identity of SSR is unknown; the other artists are Peter Stephens, James Forrester, and Claude François Nicole.

BAC: British Art Center copy bound in contemporary half calf and marbled boards. Contains an additional six plates, in the same style as the main body of plates, and including the engraved title to the Italian edition (1761). These include a double-page view of Rome, and a view of Livorno printed in green. Has bound with it: Fifty of the pleasantest landscape views in Holland (1745?); and [Book of ruins] (1749).

Landscape views of the scenery which could be observed on a journey south from Ravenna along the coast to Loretto through Rimini, Pesaro, and Sinigaglia, then across the Apennines via Folgagno, Spoletto, Terni, Borghetto, and Castellano down to Rome. Intended primarily for travelers, to guide them to the "most beautiful and pleasant places of Italy," and to be "useful to lovers of painting and design."
