Manuscript account of a journey on foot through the countryside around Leeds, illustrated with original watercolors, by Samuel A. Wilkinson. The volume also includes a second illustrated piece by Wilkinson, titled "The fade of the rose." Accompanying the volume is a small portfolio of twelve watercolors of flowers and landscapes, most of which are signed and dated. The portfolio still bears the manufacturer's original printed label: "Solid sketch block, made of Whatman's 90 lb. drawing paper ... W.J.&S., London." The sketch block mentioned is present, with a partially finished watercolor still in place.
