Manuscript volume giving the position of men for different situations aboard ship and indicating which guns are manned by whom. The grid laying out each position has been written up in ink by Lieut. Charles Thomson, with the names filled in afterward in pencil. The H.M.S. Britannia was launched in 1820, served for a time in the Mediterranean and then later came out of retirement to serve in the Crimean War. Several of the blank leaves have small drawings on them, including a small ship done in pencil which bears some resemblance to the Britannia.
