"London, June 24th, 1767."
"Proposals. : I. It is proposed, that this work shall contain fifty prints, besides the title, with the Loves of the several painted concerned in this work, and a description of the pictures. II. The subscribers for the whole work, to pay one Guinea for each number, which will contain not less than four prints, except the last, upon account of the Lesser-Press. Subscriptions taken in till the 25th March, 1768, after which the price will be raised."
"Volume II. The proprietor of the above work proposed, that this volume should consist of etchings from historical pictures, but as etchings are not generally like, he has altered his intention, and proposes to have a remainder finished in the highest manner he possibly can, at one guinea each number. The first number contains fourteen prints. The second number, just published, contains ten prints, catalogues of which are added after the first volume."
"Part II. Contains a catalogue of copper plates, by Mr. John Smith, the most famous mezzotinto scraper that has appeared."
