The verso of the mount bears a printed label on blue paper, with two coin logos: "Photographers to the Crystal Palace Company. H. Negretti & Zambra. Meteorological instrument makers, and opticians, no. 11, Hatton Garden, London." The firm was appointed as Photographers to the Crystal Palace Company in 1854.

The image shows a reproduction of the Osiride pillars from the Ramesseum, the palace and temple of Remeses II, that was also referred to as the Memnonium into the 19th century. The reproduction was part of the Egyptian Court at the Crystal Palace, Sydenham.
