The box was probably sold by James Newman (firm). It includes 21 cakes of watercolor paint, in various states of use, most by Newman. Also present are six stacking pallets by Wedgwood; three empty glass containers; three brushes; three pens; and assorted burnishing stones, erasers, etc.
A brass plaque on the box lid bears the name of Eliza Briscoe. A document pocket underneath the lid contains dated and signed certificates (for 1829 and 1830) regarding Briscoe's examinations passed at Mrs Roberts & Miss Maiben's Schools, Dublin. Examination subjects include mythology, dancing, Grecian, Roman & English history, and geography.
Accompanied by three incomplete crystoleums.
