The box includes original brass hinges and lock, with key. The third (bottom) section of the interior bears the printed label of Reeves & Sons, at 113 Cheapside, London, E.C. The underside of the box lid bears a large color label: "Superior elementary water colors."
The box is divided into three sections. The top section includes 36 slots for paint blocks. The blocks show moderate usage.
The middle section includes a removable mixing tray and glass water pot.
The narrow bottom row includes two brushes and one brush holder.
