A reissue of the 1507 edition, with the original colophon date of 1507, but changed on the title page and title page verso to 1508. The first edition of Ptolemy to include the Noua Orbis Descriptio by Marcus Beneventanus, and six new maps. Includes De tribus orbis partibus, [20] leaves at end.
Includes the mappamundi by Dutch cartographer Johannes Ruysch: Universalior cogniti orbis tabula ex recentibus confecta observationibus, the first printed map to show parts of the New World.
Place and date of publication from title page. Printer's name from colophon (leaf O7).
Signatures: A-C⁸ D-E⁶ F-O⁸ (O8 blank) 2A-2B⁸ 2C⁴ (2C4 verso blank) a⁶ b⁸.
Includes the index on leaf 2A1 recto and the "Tractatus de tribus orbis partibus", leaves 2A1 verso-2C4 recto, by the Benedictine monk Nicolaus Germanus.
Relief shown pictorially.
Maps are printed from the engraved copper plates of either the Rome, 1478 or 1490 editions of the work; also contains numerous woodcut diagrams in the text with a full page woodcut entitled "Sphaera in plano" on N1 recto; ornamental initials.

BAC Folio A 2023 57: Maps are uncolored. Gatherings a⁶ b⁸ are bound before the maps. Bound in contemporary calf, with brass bosses and clasps. A vellum leaf inserted at the front bears the painted coat of arms of the Pesaro family of Venice.
