"A very short treatise produce anonymously by [Bernard] Gaillot ... Gaillot acknowledges his debt to Engelmann, but contends that his methods have limitations ... He describes, therefore, a method of producing the effect of drawings in India ink which would give both large areas of tone, as Engelmann's method did, and also positive individual brush strokes of varying tones ... which Engelmann's lavis lithographique did not ..."--Twyman.
