"In October, 1959, Doktor Mikel Horl ventured forth into regions of the animal world hitherto unsullied by human exploration. Motivated by a belief that the skies, the oceans, and the earth were diminishing in their wealth and variety of fauna, Doktor Horl sought to discover little-known creatures in grave danger of extinction. The Doctor harboured no heroic compulsion to rescue species from oblivion, thus altering the course of nature. His desire was simply to observe the beasts in their natural habitat. Returning to the British Isles in 1992, Doktor Horl bore representational evidence, in the form of twenty-five wooden boxes, each containing twenty-one etchings, coloured by hand, depicting the variety of life forms encountered on his travels. The etchings are reproduced in this book in their original black-and-white form. Doktor Horl now invites you, as their new owner, to lovingly and imaginatively adorn the creatures here-in with colours from your own palette."--P. [3]
