First half of Fuseli's collected works, the second appearing in 1808. Felix Nüscheler wrote the account of Fuseli's early life.
Explanations of the designs were written by Johann Jakob Horner. The driving force behind the publication was Fuseli's cousin, the painter and art dealer, Heinrich Füssli, who found suitable illustrations and got them engraved.
