"Catherine Yass images often suggest glimpses of memory and half realised dreams which metamorphose depending on interpretation. The initial reading of 'bike' is one of serenity; the light reflecting off the water, the leaf lingering on the surface as it travels sequentially from frame to frame through the series of images. On closer inspection the disjointed shapes below the surface of the water reveal a discarded bike, contorted and submerged. In these images a personal narrative hints at issues of consumerism, environment and abandonment whilst a sense of detachment is illustrated through the edited stills captured using the mechanical eye of a camera."--Momart Announcement.
