Cover title, stamped in blind on publisher's cloth: Flower book.
Artists' book consisting of depictions of 30 British wild flowers and their common names. Each flower is represented by 2 prints. Etchings, lithographs, wood-engravings, relief etchings, linocuts, collotypes. Artists include: Jenny Balfour Paul, Jill Beagley, Diana Brueton, Diana Collins, Sally Cottis, Susan Deakin, Julia Finzel, Benedicta Fitzgerland, Michael Honnor, John Hunt, Louise Johnson, Detta Lange, Moira Mellor, Caroline Moxley, Jenny Perry, Simon Ripley, Penny Robinson, Roseanne Sanders, Clody Wain, Rosaleen Wain, Vincent Wilson.
"[P]rinted and bound by twenty-one printmakers at the Dartington Print Workshop, Dartington Hall, Devon. The text was set in 24 pt, 36 pt, and 72 pt Bembo, and together with the colour images was printed on Somerset mould-made paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Wells. The black and white images were printed on Chinese hand-made paper. The book was covered in Tussah silk. Richard Lines set and printed the type by hand at Peter Beavan's Cock Robin Press in Ashburton, Devon, and the book was bound under the guidance of Mary Bartlett of the Dartington Bindery. The project was directed by Michael Honnor and Susan Deakin. A printmakers' flora was begun in October 1992 and completed in the summer of 1996. Every participant received a book from the edition and the remaining fourteen were for sale."--Colophon.
