Inscribed in pen and black ink, top center: "Sketch of the Stables for | Lord Darnley"; in pen and black ink, left, "Floor of the stables falls 6 inches from A to B - | C. Small Rollers of box or hard | wood ab.t 2 in. Diam. to guide the | strap of the Halter to weight D. | E. Bottom Rail of Oak and gro[o]ved | on the top edge for the ends of the | Partition to go in and to lay about 1 1/2 above the paving | F. Oak post which supports | the manger & gro[o]ved on the | back side for a case for the | weight of the Halter. | Partiton between the Stalls | to be of 2 1/2 in. deal plow'd and | tong'd together and an iron strop | at the top grov'd into the wood as at D. | Back of the Manger to be | lined with inch deal as high as | the top of the Racks & plaisterd | above the fronts and bottoms of | the mangers to be of 2 inch deal | and to have an Oak Roller on the Top. | The walls of the stables to be lined | round as high as the steel posts of | the stables."; in graphite and pen and black
