The Old Vault A must be | reduced in the length to give | space for the new vault & the | Coffins in that Vault will | require to be moved close to | the Partition Wall at B || The Dotted Lines to the | Casing shews the thickness | above & the formation | to D.o can be made 3 or 4 | Inches thicker as the | Stone will admit of || The Wall of the New Vault | C.C. will be about 18 in thick | & I think should be Built | of squared stones, the whole | thickness, at least every other | Course, as it will give a stranger | Abutment to the Old Walls | some underpinning will be required to Walls | D.D. and as the Space will not allow the thickness | of a Casing within the Vault against the | rough foundations the Old | foundations must be cut away to receive it | Bond Stones | Iron Cramps, to be used as you find requisite"; in pen and brown ink, center (twice): "Old Vaults"; in pen and brow ink, center: "A" "B" "C" "C" "D" "D"; in pen and brown ink, dimensions given; in pen and brown ink, lower center, bar scale labeled: "10", "20", "30 feet"; inscribed on verso in graphite, lower right: "AD 578"
