Lettered, upper center: "RIVER SCENERY. | DIRECTIONS TO THE BINDER."; lettered, center: "The Binder is requested to place the Plates imediately after the | Engraved Title, and the List of Plates and Descriptions at the end | of the Volume. The printed list will show the order in which the | Plates are to appear. | Plate of Eton, in No. 1., to be cancelled. | Ditto of Totness, in No. IV., to be cancelled. | Ditto of Ripon Minster, in No.IV., to be cancelled. | The above three subjects are cancelled in consequence of the im- | perfections in the manufacture of the Steel-plates on which they have | been engraved. This accidental circumstance, in the early invention | of Steel Mezzotinto Plates, defeated all the exertions made by the | Artists to restore them, and the work is consequently more choice | and uniform by athe above Plates being cancelled. | The Plate of Shields, on the River Tyne, in No.1. and marked | Plate I., is to be placed the last view in the work, and that of Stangate | Creek to be placed the first, according to the printed list."
