In artist's hand, in black, lower left corner of image: "Graham Clarke". In green type, beneath image: "KNOLE"; in black type: "sits islanded amid its rolling thousand-acre deer park. Built by | Archbishop Bourchier in 1456, this is surely one of the grandest mediaeval | mansions in all England. Wander through its galleried Great Hall, its seven | courtyards, the many of its three hundred and sixty-five rooms, filled with | precious furniture and portraits, which are open to visitors. This is the | very substance of life in a rich and powerful Tudor household." Beneath, in green type: "Knole is easily reached. Green LIne Coaches 704, 705 take you from Victoria (Buckingham Palace Road) to Sevenoaks. Knole is alos | visited every Thursday (until September 21) by one of London Transport's Conducted Coach Tours from Victoria Coach Station. | The fare is £1 and everything is included, even tea.
